The prohibition of consulting soothsayers, fortune tellers or astrologers

It is not permissible to visit anyone on any matter/issue  and believe what they say to us because whatever they say is from the devil.

We all have easy access to Allah and all we have to do is sit in our homes and call upon Allah ourselves.

Quran 40:60 "Call upon me and I will answer" When something is going on in our lives, we spend time in private where it's most comfortable and pick up the Quran to read. We offer Nawafil and spend time in sujood. Only Allah can heal and bring smile on our faces.

1. Narrated by Safiyyah, Daughter of Abu Ubaid, on the authority of some of the wives of The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam)
who said; "He who go to one who claims to tell about matters of the unseen and believes in him, his salat will not be accepted for forty days" (Muslim)

2. Aishah (RadiyAllahu Anha) said: Some people ask the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) about soothsayers. He (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said: "They are of no account" upon this they say to him, O Messenger of Allah! But they sometimes make true predictions.
Thereupon the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "That is a word pertaining to truth which a jinn snatched (from the angels) and whispers into the ears of his friend (the soothsayers) who will then mix more than a hundred lies with it" (Al Bukhari and Muslim)

The narration in Al Bukhari is that "The angels descend in the clouds and mention matters which has been decreed in heaven; satan steals a hearing (listens to it) and communicates it to the soothsayers who then talk along with it a hundred lies.
From all, we have learnt that it is prohibited to consult anyone about matters because the source of information will no longer be from Allah but from the jinn.

3.  Abu Mausud Al Badri (RadiyAllahu anhu) said: The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam)
prohibited the price of a dog, the earning of a prostitute and the money given to a soothsayer. (Al Bukhari and Muslim)

It is unlawful to go to visit another and start asking questions: what our future holds, to narrate our dreams,to perform Istikharah on our behalf or any other personal affairs.

The payment or whatever we give in return is unlawful, and whatever they tell us is from the jinn.

We don't go to anyone for our matters except Allah.
May Allah forgive our shortcomings.

Sallam Alaikum waramotullah wabarakatu
