I am just thinking Why do people gossip?
1. Their life is boring and they need to talk about another to make it interesting.
2. They are insecure about themselves and the only way to level up and acquire self esteem is to intimidate or degrade others.
Never to gossip is one of the things Allah has made very serious and punishable in the Quran.
Quran 24:15 "when you were spreading it with your tongue and mouth things of which you had no knowledge of, you consider it a trivial matter but in Allah's sight it is very serious."
It is not only sinful for whoever that's talking but sinful for whoever that's hearing.
Quran 24:11 "everyone shall be held to account for the sins he has committed and he who took greater part in it shall have a terrible punishment"
How to stop listening to gossip?
1. To warn the person to stop talking; Quran 24:12 "when you heard of it, why did not the believing men and believing women think well of their own people and say this is a manifest slander" Let's tell them it's a bad habit. Quran 24:16 "when you heard of it, whey did you not say it is not right for us to speak of this. Allah forbid!!! This is a monstrous slander"
2. To remove oneself from the situation; When we notice someone is beginning to talk about another person, let's pretend like we have somewhere to be or other things to do.
Quran 24:21 "O you who believe, do not follow the footsteps of Sayton and whoever follows should know that he enjoins only indecency and evil....."
3. To ask for proof; let's begin to ask them how they heard, who was there, and if they can repeat everything in front of the person they are talking about. Quran 24:13 " if they can not produce witness, they are indeed liars in the sight of Allah"
If anyone of us is among the people who love to talk about another cause they are bored or intimidated, sad about their life, not comfortable with the things they have,it's advisable to find meaningful things to do and love ONESELF from within.
When you don't love yourself, when you are not satisfied with your life and not content with the things you have going on for you...... you pick on another just to make yourself feel better.
Quran 24:18 "Allah warns you never to repeat the like of it again, if you are a true believer"
I heard,they said, I think..We shouldn't say that.
Ok gist me, so what now happened, are you serious, I am hearing things..We don't respond like that.
Above all,Let's keep our circle small so we know how to socialize.
